Brook Hudson, Founder
Brook Hudson is the founder of La Fleur Academy in Omaha, Nebraska. Brook’s passion is to empower girls and young women to unleash their inner beauty and establish a genuine presence and social grace. She does this through programs that help her students build confidence, develop their own sense of style and learn the basics of etiquette so they are prepared to tap into their full potential, no matter where life takes them.
Brook has many years of marketing and communications experience, ranging from banking and financial services firms to non-profit healthcare and educational institutions. She competed in the Miss America pageant system for five years and won the title of Miss Nebraska in 2004. She draws upon her experience as a pageant contestant and as a marketing professional to show students how to develop their confidence, sense of style and personal brands.
Her interest in confidence development began at age 11, as a student in an east-coast finishing school. “The experience boosted my self-esteem, taught me how to package and present myself authentically and set the stage for many of my achievements as an adult,” says Brook. “I came out of the awkward adolescent stage relatively unscathed!” Skills learned in finishing school led her to success in pageant competition. As Miss Nebraska, Brook visited schools around the state and spoke to over 10,000 students. She also competed in the nationally televised Miss America pageant in Atlantic City.
Since then, Brook has helped many girls and young women adopt the skills and mindset she learned in finishing school and as a pageant contestant. She has been selected as a TOYO recipient (Ten Outstanding Young Omahans), and has been inducted into both Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Sigma Nu honor societies at Creighton University, where she completed her MBA. She is also a member of Junior League of Omaha and founder of the American Heart Association Sweetheart Program.
Most recently, Brook upgraded her title as a former Miss Nebraska to MRS. Hudson. She and her husband, Nick, were married in April of 2010 and make their home in Omaha. Together, they are helping to foster young creative talent through their non-profit organization, Nomad Collective Arts Fund and through Omaha Fashion Week.
